STG-985

A unique one-off East German prototype AK made in 1983. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, it would serve as a proof of concept and eventually lead to the STG-940 Wieger series. The rifle was built from a combination of AKM (MPi-KMS-72), Israeli Galil SAR components with a custom two piece painted wooden handguard.

Our handguards are made from polymer, painted and clear coated to match East German brown polymer furniture.

These handguards are NOT a drop in fit for existing AKs or Galils and will require a custom build. To get you started in the right direction check out our parts list and custom barrels below!
